Inihaw na Tilapia

This is one of the simplest Filipino fish dishes you can make...

Ingredients:
1 fresh tilapia, trimmed and cleaned (gutted)
2 tablespoons minced garlic
1 tablespoon minced ginger
1/2 cup chopped onions
1/2 cup chopped tomatoes
salt to taste

Procedure:
Mix garlic, ginger if using, onions, tomatoes, salt in a small bowl. Carefully insert this mixture into fish cavity and into each cut/slash you’ve made. Wrap the whole fish in banana leaves or foil and cook on the grill for about 20 minutes or just until cooked through and fish is fragrant.

Cucumber! :)

Health benefits of Cucumber

-It is a very good source of potassium, an important intracellular electrolyte. Potassium is a heart friendly electrolyte; helps reduce blood pressure and heart rates by countering effects of sodium

 - Cucumbers have mild diuretic property probably due to their high water and potassium content, which helps in checking weight gain and high blood pressure.

- Cucumber peel is a good source of dietary fiber that helps reduce constipation, and offers some protection against colon cancers by eliminating toxic compounds from the gut.

- Cucumber juice is a very good healthy drink.

- Fresh, clean cucumbers may be enjoyed as they are without any additions.

Watermelon :)

Here are some very interesting facts about the Watermelon:

-Watermelon is actually a vegetable and not a fruit. It is also related to the pumpkin, cucumber and the squash
- Watermelons are ideal for the health as they do not contain any fat or cholesterol and are high in fiber content and vitamins A and C and are also a good source of potassium
- Unripe watermelons should be avoided as they can be slightly acidic.
- Every part of the watermelon, including the seeds and the rind is edible

1 can pineapple tidbits, set aside the syrup
1 Tbsp oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 medium-sized onions, chopped
1/2 cup evaporated milk or coconut milk
patis (fish sauce), to taste
bellpepper

DIRECTIONS:

-Marinade the chicken with the pineapple syrup for a few minutes.

-When done, set aside the chicken on one side of the pot.

-Add the oil on a heated pan/wok, saute garlic and onions then mix together with the marinated chicken and bellpepper...cook for about a minute.

-Add the pineapple chunks then pour the evaporated milk. Cover and bring to a simmer...
-By the time the chicken is done, the sauce would be rather thick and creamy, stir then season with patis.

-Simmer again for 2 minutes then turn-off the heat.
-that's it! :)
